Handmade Cheerleading Invitations
Throwing a cheerleader themed party allows you to be creative with fun handmade invitations, party favors and decor. With a little planning, the homemade invitations can be personalized to make each guest feel special.
You will need to gather a few items to start. First, you need a medium weight card stock. Any pretty color will do but try to get team colors if you can. What would handmade invitations be without glitter? Again, you can look for team colors, use silver/gold or variegated. Get a glue stick, a gel pen in a color that shows up well against the card stock and narrow satin ribbon. The ribbon should ideally be very close in color to the actual pompoms that the cheer leading squad uses. Now draw a template in the outline of a cheerleading pompom complete with the handle. This will keep your shape and size uniform. Keep the handle wide and make the pompom part just an outline. This will serve as a base to build you homemade invitation on. Once you are satisfied with the size and shape of your template, use it to cut pompoms from the card stock. On what will be the front of your handmade invitation put a light layer of glue on the handle and sprinkle it with the glitter. Let it set for a few seconds and tap it to remove loose glitter. Save this glitter to use latter. Next, cut the ribbon into pieces that are long enough to reach from the upper end of the handle to the end of the pompom shape. This will mean that the ones in the middle are slightly longer. Put a light layer of glue on the pompom section of the invitation. Now lay the ribbon on the glue, overlapping is fine and makes your handmade craft look even better. To cover the areas where the glitter meets the ribbon cut a shorter piece of ribbon and glue it to across the ends of the pompom ribbons. Using the gel pen write the party info on the back. If you want your homemade invitations personalized then leave a space with no glue or ribbon in the pompom area and use the gel pen to write in the spirit partyguest's name. Now you have it a personalized, glittery, colorful; spirit filled handmade invitation that will probably become a keepsake.
