Sending thank you notes used to be the norm and not sending a note would be a guarantee to not be invited back. It would have been considered rude and uncouth to not send a thank you note. It takes a lot of work to put on a party and too often people don’t get a thanks for that work.
Keep the note brief, but tie in some elements from the party that will give your hosts reason to smile when they read it. A handwritten note is much nicer than one typed up on your computer, but you are the best judge on what your party hosts will like.
