Mardi Gras is a festive and colorful time of year so why not use that in a homemade party invitation! Rich purples, yellows, and greens streak the streets, parties, and even local stores. If you live in New Orleans it is probably even more amplified. For your Mardi Gras party, whether you live in New Orleans or San Diego, a homemade party invitation can still be just as fun and festive.
Many Mardi Gras parties involve the wearing of masks. So for your handmade party invitations, head over to your local craft store and pick up cardstock paper in green, purple, and yellow. While you are there, pick up similar colored feathers and confetti. Create the base of your invitation by cutting your green paper to the size of a postcard. Either by free hand or using a template, cut your purple cardstock into the shape of a mask and paste to one side of your green paper. Use the feathers to decorate the top of your mask as you would for one you would wear. With your yellow cardstock, cut out a piece of paper in the shape of a circle, but ensure it is small enough to fit on the opposite side of your green paper. Here you will hand-write your invitation using a purple pen. Use a quick spray of adhesive glue to both sides and sprinkle with the confetti. Allow to dry fully before placing in an envelope. Mail or hand deliver your homemade party invitations to guests and tell them to bring masks to the party and be festive by wearing greens, purples and yellows. Be sure to carry the theme throughout your house or even offer guests masks as party favors.
