Handmade Tailgate Invitations
Tailgate parties are a wonderful opportunity to be creative with handmade invitations. For your party give your guests personalized homemade invitations that they will remember for years. You will need card stock in a light color of your choice. This will be the color of your handmade tailgate invitation so pick a color you really like. You’ll also need markers in various colors including brown, glue, and cutouts of picnic food, and a craft knife. The cutouts for your homemade invitations can be found in the scrapbook section of a craft and big discount store or printed off the internet. Cut the card stock into rectangles and fold them in the middle so the short sides meet. Cut out a rectangular shape about an inch from the top of the front flap, this is the rear window for your handmade tailgate.
You want the window to be about an inch high and to end about a half inch from the sides. Using the markers draw a license plate below the window, in the middle at the bottom of your homemade card. You want the handmade invitation to look like the hatchback of a vehicle. Write your guest’s name on the license plate in small letters and write Tailgate Party above the rear window.
On the inside of the handmade invitation write the party info at the bottom and then position the picnic food cutout so that some of them will show through the rear window.
Using the brown marker draw a football or the appropriate game ball near the party info and add a slogan like “Score Big”.
This next Tailgate party should be all about buffet style. You can have a huge feast but set the food up as a buffet. This will save you time and will allow the guests to choose exactly what they want on their plate or even get seconds of all the food of their choice.
